Speedy scrapping here we come!

I was just browsing some forums and stumbled across an awesome resource at SpeedScraps.

Do you tend to just stick to kit scrapping due to the issues with keeping your credits straight? Well, Christy at SpeedScraps has a great tutorial for you. Part 1 and Part 2.

The best part about all this is that she’s created a tool to track your supplies, called, oddly enough Supply Tracker, and is giving it away!

The tools Christy has make allow you to make your layers, and then it puts them all into a credits layers for you and in the File Info too! Awesome!

So why not head over to SpeedScraps and check it out!

Happy scrapping!

Flash of Genius!

Look at this awesome LO:

I love the color scheme: black and white with punches of red- very eye catching!!  I also love the title work with the 2 different alphas!

This kit is very Monica…and it’s awesome!

I love this kit and have used it many times!  It is really great!!

Well, see you in August for some more Flash of Genius!!

Until then…happy scrapping!

Add some “Style” to your Layout ~ Challenge 4

Wow where has the time gone? We’re already onto challenge 4 and if you’ve been participating your half way to getting your mega coupon for Monica’s store. This week we’re going to do a different challenge. If you have ever strolled through Monica’s fabulous store I’m sure you’ve noticed her awesome mega kits. Today the challenge is to create a layout using not only one of Monica’s kits but to incorporate the coordinating styles or glitter styles. Here is a layout I created using Secret Labyrinth {mega bundle}

Here’s a tip for you as well. Have you ever tried to put a drop-shadow on an element you’ve previously used a style on only to find your style disappears? Try right clicking on the element in the layers panel and select “Convert to Smart Object” then add your drop-shadow.

I hope I have helped to get your creative juices flowing and I can’t wait to see what you do with Monica’s awesome Styles. Oh and by the way mgl Scraps is having a huge sale right now and you can pick up many of the mega kits for up to 70% off right now and everything else is 50% off so now’s the time to stock up.

Flash of Genius!

This LO features one of my favorite techniques: selective coloring:

I love the pop of color of the flower!  I also love Sandy’s choice of colors!

The kit is a collab with the fabulous Flergs!

What an awesome, bright kit!

Until next time: happy scrapping!!

Pencil Box Hybrid Project

I stumbled across these pencil boxes at Dollar Tree a few weeks ago. I was so excited, because they make great containers for all kinds of gifts – note pads, pens, gift cards…and then when I was in an office supply store, I ran across MORE boxes that were just 79 cents each! The perfect hybrid project for these boxes was to make some cute belly bands to go around them.

I used In The Meadow for this project.

Materials needed:

pencil box
2 contrasting bands of paper – mine were 3″ wide x 8.5″ long and 2.25″ wide x 8.5″ long
You’ll want to measure your box to get the right length.
printed elements to adhere to the belly band
adhesive – I used Terrifically Tacky Tape and 3-D foam adhesive mounts
scoring tool and board
scissors

Measure around your box and note the measurements for the front and side. My box was 3″ wide and 1″ tall, so I scored my paper at 1″, 2″, 5″, and 6″. You’ll score your paper according to the dimensions of your box.
Adhere the paper to your box.
Add the cut-out elements to the front of the box using 3-D foam adhesive for added dimension.
You’re done!

A Glimpse of the Past

Well, it’s summer and the warm weather brings with it just plain craziness. Everyone is busy running around, taking vacations, doing day trips and if you’re a parent then just having the kids home can make the days seem to fly by… where does the time go?

With that being said, summer is also an amazing time to take pictures and scrap them. The colours are amazing and the possibilities are endless. This week we are going to continue on with a Glimpse of the Present and this time I would love to see you focus on the emotions behind pictures when you’re scrapping them.

Recently my husband and I snuck away for a little trip alone before the kids were done school and he was a great sport letting me snap pictures of him like crazy but amongst my favourites are the first few pictures I took of him after we arrived at the lake. The pictures speak volumes about how he is feeling and I used the title to help focus the layout on his emotions rather than what he is doing.

Free…. That is how he looked and felt stepping onto the dock. Free from work, kids and responsibilities. Free to play, have a beer and fish. Free to do whatever he wants, whenever he wants. It was only four days away but it was enough to make him feel free and that’s what I wanted to capture in this layout I created using mgl’s Indomitable.

I would love to see a glimpse of your present and the emotion you have captured in the moment and how you have preserved it, so drop me a link to your favourite layout and I will leave you some love.

I hope today I have inspired you to preserve a glimpse from your present.

And I bet you thought we were done. Nope, because you have been so patient with me being M.I.A. the last couple of weeks you get a double feature.

A Glimpse of the Future

I love doing a glimpse of the future because it’s different than the other two in the sense that you can easily scrap the past and the present but how do you scrap the future? Well I’m here to give you another idea. Sometimes when I look at my kids I wonder how long I will be here with them, if I left this world tomorrow I will have left so many things unsaid…. things that don’t make sense to say today. I was looking at pictures of them and all the things I would love to be there for, to see and participate in were filling my mind so I decided to write a letter and then scrap it. Here is a picture of my beautiful daughter Tatyana and a letter I wrote to her, for her to read in the future. I created this beautiful layout using mgl’s Free Spirit

Dear Tatyana,

Today you are 10 years, 8 months and 16 days old. You are absolutely beautiful with big brown eyes that twinkle and strawberry blonde hair. You have these adorable little dimples and a smile that makes people stop in their tracks and smile back. You are so smart and mature for your age that I forget sometimes that you’re still my baby girl. Now you’ve started to notice boys and they’ve definitely started to notice you but you’re such a good girl that you still enjoy reading more than boys. You are great in school and when you grow up you want to be a teacher.

You love to play sports but you are like your Mama and aren’t very coordinated. Your favourite sport right now is soccer. You also love to dance. Justin teases you a lot about you’re dancing but that just makes you dance more and girl you have some moves. You spend most of your time reading and playing on facebook when you’re inside and riding your bike and playing with your friends when you’re outside.

I hope as you grow up, you continue to try things and don’t be afraid of getting it wrong or making mistakes. It’s learning that is turning you into the intelligent young woman you are becoming so I hope it doesn’t stop. I hope you meet a boy and fall in love but you still keep your eye on school and your focus on your dreams (mostly). But most of all I hope that you will never forget that I love you and that I will always be with you to help you through the tough times and to celebrate the great times.

I love you TT

Mommy

I would love to see a glimpse of your future and how you have captured and preserved it, so drop me a link to your favourite layout and I will leave you some love.

In the meantime, as a big thank-you for stopping by I have created a free quickpage for you from my layout and you can grab here

I hope today I have inspired you to preserve a glimpse of your future and until next time happy scrapping.
