postheadericon New collab, leaving SBG, life in general and everything in between…

… how’s that for a title? Even that is the shortened version, so much has happened since I last blogged (bad blogger! bad, bad blogger! or is that bad wordpresser?) that it would take a whole post just to write the title!
Anyway, where to start? With the earliest things, I guess, which means Bring On The Music. If anyone was curious, we did it. The kit raised enough money that I could buy my friend the special gift I had in mind, and I couldn’t have been giddier that we pulled it off. Thank you to everyone who contributed and to everyone who purchased it, you guys seriously rock.

Next… some of you might have noticed that I closed my studio at SBG. It wasn’t an easy decision — it was a terribly hard decision, actually —, but I had to follow the biggest slice of my heart. I say the biggest slice because SBG will always hold a piece of my heart; I had wanted to sell there for quite a bit before I found the nerve to apply, and it was everything I had hoped for and more. I had an incredible work environment, good sales, supportive people all around, it was truly very special. I’ll always be thankfull to Maya for having given me the opportunity to sell there, to her husband Mick who always had the tech side of the store running smoothly, to the designers who chatted and put up with my craziness in the designer list, and to the crew who did such awesome things to help my designs shine. Part of me still can’t believe I gave it up.

Why did I give it up, I hear you asking? Well, that would go back to that “bigger slice of my heart” bit I just mentioned: I moved back to Sunshine Studio Scraps. Sun is a store that is part mine – I am one of the few remaining founding owners –, and I can still remember every bit of the thrill we felt when we first came together for our freebie collab, Whimsical Wonderland, the butterflies in our stomachs when we decided we’d like to open a store together, the race to the finish line that was our first collab, Walking On Sunshine, and how we used the money we got from it to buy XCart with a few mods and pay to get it installed; I can remember all the dreaming, and the imagining, and the giddiness (and the petty squabbling over trivial things like what font to use and what background would look better because we all wanted the absolute best from our individual points of view, but even that was done lovingly, in retrospect) that went into opening it, the nervous excitement over opening it (and I distinctly remember having to have all my kits ready and xcarted a day earlier than everyone, because I had a Bon Jovi concert to go to the day before our grand opening, and I was damned if I was going to be there late or leave early!), the fun that we all had together. In the two intervening years, the actual running of Sun has passed from co-owner to co-owner as some of us had more or less time to devote to it. Some decided they really hadn’t been cut out to be store owners and would rather just design instead; some got tired of all the chaos that was us deciding things as a group and left to start their own store their own way; some had to go back to working outside the house and gave up owning the store; whatever the reasons, in the end it’s just 3 of us now: myself, my husband and Amanda Kay. And it came to a point where I had to decide between keeping my SBG studio open despite the fact that I knew Amanda didn’t have the time to run the store these days, or take the plunge and give Sun my all. Basically it meant choosing between two very good things knowing that there really wasn’t a wrong and a right choice, just two different ones.

So I left SBG, with a heart that was both heavy and light, for all the friends that staid behind and the friends I’m walking towards, and I’m going to make sure than Sun shines on with the same spirit that we created it, which was a spirit of happiness and love. It’s been a journey filled with friends, and it’s heartwarming to see all the support I’ve been getting from everyone. Even though it was a hard choice, even though I wished for a cloning machine so I could clone myself and keep doing both things, and even though part of me is still feeling sad at having left SBG only a month before my second anniversary there, I can feel it in the air again: the anticipation, the excitement, the giddiness, all back. I’m going to try and make Sunshine Studio Scraps the best store it can possibly be and nothing – not even myself – is going to stop me from giving it my best shot. I hope you’ll stop by to visit me in my old-new home every once in a while, and that you wish me the best of luck in this.

I’ll slowly be adding the rest of my kits to my Sun store as time permits it, so if you’d like to see me add any kit in particular, feel free to leave me a comment saying which one.

On other, related news, Nicole Seitler, designer of the Sugarplum Paperie and Girl Friday Studio lines, Digichick owner, original Sunshine Girl and, even more important than all of that, awesome friend, has allowed me to bully her into celebrating my coming back to Sun with doing a guest month in the Sunshine. We could think of no better way to start off both my return and her guest spot than with a collab between us and so when, while I was showing her the potential colours for our collab, she said “That’s like everything under the sun!”, I just knew it would be even more perfect if we named it that. Thus, Everything Under The Sun was born. Here’s some inspiration from both mine and Nicole’s creative teams (Photobucket is hiccuping like mad for me right now, so I hope these show):

And I guess that’s it for today. Thank you for bearing with me while I poured my heart out, and for walking beside me on this journey.

Love & Spanks,

postheadericon Casual Attraction – Collab with Flergs and qp freebie

Hey guys! I’m really excited to show you my new collab, for loads of reasons. First of all, the name. “What?” I hear you thinking, “She’s got a new collab out and she’s excited about what she named it?? Is she insane?” Well, yes, on both counts. Yes, I’m excited about the name, and yes I’m insane, but they’re entirely unrelated, I promise that my insanity far predates my excitement over the name! Ok, I should really just stop rambling and explain, shouldn’t I? We decided to call the collab Casual Attraction. What’s so special about the name?

Casual Attraction is the name of an awesome band, whose singer, Tiago, just so happen to be one of my closest friends. So this is sort of me sending a wink his way, and also taking the time to let all of you guys know about them. If you’re in the mood for good music, go check them out either on their blog or their facebook fan page and I totally promise you won’t regret it! You can listen to samples on their blog, or even buy the entire album straight from there and have it ready to download in a minute! And hey, if you do go visit them and have a spare minute, drop me a line here on the blog or email me at jesters {dot} tear {at} yahoo {dot} co {dot} uk and let me know what you thought of the band, I’d love to hear it! Here’s a video to get you started!

Secondly, it’s a collab with my friend Megs, aka Flergs, and I always LOVE collabing with friends, it makes it so much more fun! And, last but in no way least, is the kit itself; just looking at the previews and at all the gorgeous LOs both our CTs made, I get giddy. I really think you guys are going to enjoy this one!

We  have it available on its own:

Kit

Or bundled two different ways:

A mega bundle:

Or a regular bundle with no styles:

I made matching borders and styles, are those also separately available, in case you want to grab the kit now and some of the other stuff later.

I did mention LOs, didn’t I? Get ready for sheer gorgeousness!

postheadericon Collab with Irene Alexeeva and new kit and borders!

Helloooooooooooooooooooooo world! I’m alive! Yes, despite the fact that my entire family was hit with Rotavirus, and there were trips to the ER, and fluids IV, and throwing up, and other bodily fluids… and then my toothache hit. *Shudders* I’m still far too traumatised to mention my toothache, I’ll need years of therapy before being able to face it!

So, aaanyway, I’ve started to bring into my Studio all that I made last month for my guest stint at TDC, starting with Fields of Gold:

There’s also a matching border set:

Also coming into my Studio, now that Irene Alexeeva’s guest month at SBG ended, is my collab with her, Treasures of the Deep:

Or you can get the alpha pack:

All of these, as usual, Scrap for Hire friendly!

postheadericon Alright, I’m an idiot, but you knew that, right?

Erm, well, what can I say that the title hasn’t already said for me? I came here, and I blogged about Chocolate Covered Cherries, and hinted about 365 International Edition being posted “tomorrow”… well, those of you who already know me know that my concept of “tomorrow is, er… shall we say “broad”? Yes, “broad” is an apt definition (or a euphemism, however you want to see it, lol, but me, I say the glass is half full).

So here I am, almost a month later and, well, yes, I’ve released 365: International Edition, but I’ve released a few other stuff too. But, before I get to that, let me show you a very very special release: some of you might know Mellisa Toy, aka Scrapper’s Circus, aka Fairytale Studios. For those of you who don’t, Mellisa is the sweetest blog stalker-dash-friend-dash-customer-dash-designer-dash-scrapper, and I’m sure I’ve left out a few other qualities as well. Well, Mellisa was in a nasty car accident – you can read about it here – and 5 of us got together – 5 being me, Studio Flergs, Studio Ellie Lash, Studio Ziska and Nicole Seitler of the Sugarplum Paperie – and made a collab grab bag to help her out. You can get it here (pic is linked too) and, if you’re far too curious, the store detailed previews have the complete reveal in them!

Now for what else I’ve been up to: a set of photo masks that I’ve lovingly dubbed “Masquerade” – lovingly, because Masquerade has a particular meaning for me; a collab with Melissa Bennett entitled Mental Block; a gazillion CU Plastic and Plastic Glitter Styles; and now, as in just-now-minutes-ago, a brand new kit called Trap the Spark. Trap the Spark has the added bonus of being 20% off through the weekend (and most likely at least half of monday too, LOL!). Ready to see previews of all of this?

And that’s it for today! (Although hopefully, not for the rest of the month, lol!)

postheadericon Whimsical Wonderland 2, Dial-Up Edition

Hi guys! I got a few comments from people who were on dial-up and so couldn’t really deal with the huge files that I made for WW2, and I also got some of you saying you couldn’t download the quickpage. The QP is a png, not a zip file. So, when you clicked it, it would open the png in a new window and you’d have to right click and Save As. I can see how this might have caused some confusion, lol, so here’s a hopefully confusion-free zip version, along with apropriately manageable (I hope!) files for the dial-up people. Hope this helps and, if you need them even smaller, let me know and I’ll split them further!
