Hi guys!

Is anyone still with me? Missed you all!
I was so disheartened by what ended up happening to my iMac I couldn’t even bring myself to come post for a while, so here’s the condensed version: I bought the thing, it was beautiful and shiny and fast… and then it fell on the floor – hard – and shattered the screen. I’ve been computerless for a while – well, not entirely computerless, but Photoshop can’t really run on a netbook – , but now I’m back on a PC with enough processor and memory to get me back in the game, and I’m loving it!

On another note, the weird brown growing patch of skin turned out to be nothing but a fungi, and a cream took care of it. Squee for easily fixable health stuff!

Back on the designing front, there’s an entire collection I’ve designed, along with a freebie and a newsletter-exclusive freebie, and I’ve redesigned my blog and website to match it, not only because I love how it turned out but also because the plan is to not bring any of my old stuff to my brand new store.

I’ve had a brownish patch of skin between my breasts for about two years now. At first I didn’t pay it any attention, it looked like a sun spot and that was that. then there were two spots, and then they sort of merged together. Lately, they no longer look like sun spots, they look like something altogether weird, and there’s a third tiny one trying to form below it. I have a dermatology appointment waiting in line, but apparently it will be February at the earliest, and I’d really like some peace of mind between now and then, so I thought I’d post the photos here, in case any one has had anything similar, or is actually a dermatologist, or basically has any idea what this patch could be. It has a texture like healing burnt skin, it doesn’t itch and it doesn’t get red. In fact I never even know it’s there, other than the fact that, well, I know it’s there. So, anyway, if you have any thoughts on this I’d love to read them. You can click the pictures to be taken to the full-sized version.

Hear, hear! Today I bring you a heartbreaking tale of woe. (Well, no, not really, but those of you who love their macs will no doubt relate to the heartbreak and woe bit.) Once upon a time there lived a princess with her gorgeous 24″ iMac. It was beautiful on the inside and on the outside, did everything the princess could possibly ask of it, and brought a smile to her lips just by thinking about it. *cue happy music and images of self prancing on a prairie, hand in… usb socket? with self’s iMac* There was no force in Nature that could have kept them away from eachother, and their relationship flourished in the many kits she designed with it. It was then that horror struck. Because the lovely iMac decided one day not to recognise its own hard drive. After a few attempts it finally booted, and her hopeful heart wrote it off as an anomaly. But, alas, it was not to be, for the iMac kept on not recognising its own hard drive on startup other times until, with a heavy heart, the princess had to take it back to the evil dragon king to be repaired under warranty.

A few weeks later the evil dragon king texted the princess with the amount of money they wanted to charge her to repair her wonderful iMac. The princess was appalled, for the iMac was 16 months old and, in her country, warranties last for 24 months, but the evil dragon king kept insisting that hard drives only had a 12 month warranty. The princess decided to battle the evil dragon king and, armed with her country’s laws, filed a formal complaint. Many days passed with the princess and the evil dragon king locked in fierce battle; the princess called the evil dragon king’s lair many times, but his minions always told her the battle was at a standstill until, finally, the princess emerged victorious. Not wanting to admit full defeat, however, the evil dragon king opted to refund the princess the value her iMac had cost, rather than simply repair it under warranty. Thus the princess had a dilemma, for the iMac had been purchased in a fantastic promotion and the amount it had cost was not enough to buy a new one at current prices.

The princess in this tale, as you no doubt have guessed, is me, and what I’m going to do is something I never thought I’d do again because it’s so crazy: a Buy My Store promo. An elegant two-toned kit, Sugarplum Love started out as being cream and purple. Because of its elegance, I decided to name it Sugarplum Love as a nod to my dear friend Nicole Seitler, of Sugarplum Paperie… until I remembered that she and purple were not the best of friends. Then I tried taking the kit out for a spin in either teal or green and, what do you know, I liked each version so much I simply couldn’t pick one in favour of the other two. It was then that my craziness settled happily on having all three versions for sale, so you could pick whichever you like best. And, if you’re as undecided as I was, you have the option of picking up this bundle with all three Sugarplum Love versions for $2 more than the price of the single kit.
